Bling Out Your Car - Choose 24in Rims
It really doesn't need to be said, it can be seen - 24 chrome wheels ARE extremely big. This is because they are made for vehicles that are just as big - like the Bronco. However, people are always trying to make their cars "bigger and better" than those of their neighbors, so they often put them on cars whose stock tires and rims are of average size - causing their idea to be stopped in its tracks. Can your car somehow be rigged so you CAN drive it with big rims? And, what kind of cars could you jazz up with them?
Well, let's get the risk and safety issues out of the way first. Keep in mind your average car isn't designed to accommodate rims of a larger size and to just hang them in place of the old ones, without first customizing the tires - is to ask for trouble in the form of a big accident caused by an inoperable vehicle. This is where "low profile tires" come in to play and it involves having modified tires made for your vehicle that enable it to accept the giant rims.
So now that the good news has been delivered, here is a short list of just a few of the cars you might "trick out" with 24 inch rims. (And please remember that the definition of a tricked out automobile might be different to different people).
A Station Wagon - Why not take the wholesome memory of the family car icon of the Fifties' and Sixties' to a whole new level for modern times? Get some custom tires made for your station wagon and create a sky-high, high-rise by adding huge rims - take the "boring" out of the family vehicle equation. Then go on a multiple family camping trip and shock your more reserved companions as you come bouncing down the dirt road - now appearing to be on equal terrain with the "baddest" of sporty SUV's, thanks to the giant rims. You can rest assured that the 1960's and 1970's writers of the family-oriented comedy shows NEVER thought of putting their characters in a family wagon like this.
An AMC Gremlin - The poster-child for "ugly car", this poor vehicle has been looked down upon by Pinto owners for years. But now you can give it its rightful moment in the spotlight for once. Slap those special tires and giant car wheels on it and drive your Gremlin proudly down the main street of your town. For once you'll be looking DOWN on all the cars and drivers that have laughed at your car's humbleness. This little automobile deserves it.
Chevrolet Chevelle - This is one car that always looks GREAT with big rims and there aren't many people who would disagree. In fact, this classic is meant to sit high up in it's regal position - just resting long enough before it takes off at the speed of light, blowing all the other cars off the road with it's huge engine - and HUGE rims that spin so fast the car becomes nothing but a blur to the spectators watching it.
A Hearse - Yes, this is one of the more bizarre big rim ideas - but maybe an idea whose time has come. Consider this - if the funeral you are planning is for a loved one who loved to "live" outrageously, why not deck out the hearse transporting him with extra big rims and special tires - and make his final send off a real blast that won't soon be forgotten. You may start a trend with people, and in this way, bring a glimmer of light to an otherwise very sad occasion.
So now you know that you CAN put big, sparkly 24 inch rims on any car you'd like - you just have to modify the tires, and add the tire wheels, doing so safely. You want people to sit up and take notice of you and your car - not read about the traffic pile up you caused when your car became inoperable because of a lack of knowledge on your part.
